My first thought when I would pull up and see that truck- Did he have a Heart attack, or some medical issue.
Really? If the guy was havin' a heart attack I really don't think he would park and then take the time and energy to draw the curtains.
guys , here is a tip for you. dont use the dreaded phase "poor trip planning" in any of your posts. it gives you away as working for , having worked for, or currently in trainiong for one of the large driver mill companies. yes, it is a dead give away you are a newbie. again, just a tip .
Then perhaps, with all due respect to your 3 decades of service to the industry sir, you should change your screen name, lest anyone think you drive for Schneider (as I do). Wouldn't want anyone to think you would drive for (Heavens!) a mega.
"Poor trip planning" is a phrase I use, and I've never been through a CDL mill company, got mine in 1987. Trip planning is a practice used MOST ESPECIALLY by experienced drivers - funny thing is, you're so used to it, yu don't realize you're doing it anymore - it's second nature. Are you saying that experienced guys don't plan their trips, or they just don't use that phrase? I'm giving you an "out" here to make up for a sorta lunkheaded statement.
really depends on what type of load you have as to wether or not trip planning works--t/l is easy--one drop easy to plan but when you have 10 or 12 drops on the trailer--sometimes all your planning can go out the window prety quick--of course you are always planning as you go--but picking and choosing where you are going to stop to sleep sometimes is pretty chancy
Don't most Johnson Bars have "NOT FOR PARKING" written on them? Your method sounds good to me (note that I'm a rookie, however). My guess is- when you try to idiot proof something, they go ahead and build a better idiot. I use mine to check the brake lights and listen for air leaks in the trailer brake system during the pre-trip. I pull trailers with a fixed tridem setup, so no sliding tandems for me.
48 packard, i dont drive for schneider, if you have read any of my previous posts you would know i am with mercer trans of louisville,ky a 100 per cent O/O company. i have had that handle for several years, use it on many internet forums and online games i have played as far back as 1999 i think when i bought my first computer. may have something to do with my build . now ronin, my statement in no way says that folks dont plan trips, just that many dont use the catch phrase of the driver mill companies " trip planning" or "poor trip planning" . it is a phrase adapted by many after they drive for the driver mill companies like cr england or covenant transport among others. which you have both driven for, have you not ronin? i just stated that the use of the phrase was a dead give away a guy had drove for the big driver mill companies. but then you should know that, since you also know everything. i myself didnt have to do a thing to get a cdl, it just turned into one under the provision of being grandfathered in. the motor carrier act of late1986 was the start of the cdl era, however it was quite some time after before cdl were issued as it took a great while for states to gear up their individual programs and it was 1992 before everyone was required to have a cdl. lol, like i need an out from a bull hockey artist, roflmao twice
And if said neighbor was there before the offender arrived? Want to talk about growing a set? Why not, instead of hiding behind the air horn as you drive by, get out and knock on the door yourself?
