I just replaced the 2 sensors that you replaced for half the cost... Price was $150 for both sensors... One if them used one bolt the other two bolts, certainly shouldnt cost $150 to unscrew 3 bolts and plug a sensor in. Dealerships are called stealerships for a reason.
I don't know who your machanic is, but he's not doing you any favors. I'd look for someone else. God Bless You! and Good Luck!
My gosh! I'm think'in I should open my hood and give my old 6nz a big hug. Hopefully you will have many trouble free miles now!!
It really helps if you can do the work yourself, most mechanics are incompetent nowadays they just dance around the truck and want to get paid top $. To keep the DEF clean I use a bottle of diesel injector cleaner on a full tank (35 gallon tank on a Ford F-350 pickup) right before I change the oil. I use Shell Rottella T6 synthetic oil exclusively and go 15,000 miles between oil changes, the truck now has 310k miles and the DEF system is all original. Dura Lube has a product called DEF Reducer Kit now at Walmart, I just tried it out on a new-to-me Dodge Ram 3500 pickup with 150k miles and it seems to work I can tell from the exhaust smell. Before I use DieselCleen and BG products.
Chk out a filter for the cummins engines called the dorthy by Pittsburg power...Dorothy EGR Those engines run fairly dirty I hear so seeing you spent all that $ once,a lil more to save you that again will always be worth it..
I think you mean you had your DPF filter baked not your DEF filter. Btw did you have your DEF filter replaced?
Sure fire way to fix regen 1 sell the truck 2 buy pre emission truck 3 rebuild old truck so it's reliable and be glad you won't have regen problems.
With proper care the DPF should give no problem, here are my experiences and tips based on my observation. I notice that my truck uses more DEF fluid with the B20 diesel (20% bio-diesel) than B5 (5% bio-diesel) so I seek out B5 avoid B20 wherever I can, most regular gas stations have B5 vs most truck stops (Love's, Pilot...) have B20. I use synthetic oil exclusively because it's much better than conventional dino oil for engine protection and produce less soot & deposit the best way to control soot is to generate the least of it in the first place. Every 10-15 thousand miles I run a tank with injector/DPF cleaner, this will keep the engine clean and the soot down. It costs me about 4 gallons of DEF fluid (about $10) for every 10,000 miles plus another $10 for the additive cleaner, this is very reasonable to keep the air clean. I'm not a tree hugger but I do what I can to leave a livable earth for my children, this rock we're living on is the only one we've got.
