So I smoked a little during christmas, it was so little i didnt think about testing myself before i went and did a preemployment test and it came up positive....i didnt have a job when i smoked.....so the nearest sap program is charging about $250 for the first and second consultation.....im just wondering if its worth it...i know its up to me to make that decision but theres a lot more to it like jobs and such....i do know when i worked for magnum trucking the guy that was in orientation with me did sap but i dont know how many years old that was....im going to call them tomorrow and see what they say....and i know it stays on your fmcsa for 5 years....thats long but time flies you know? anyways, im just making conversation.
So, you smoked a little at Christmas and you're still positive? Impossible. Want to go ahead and tell the real truth.....?
I'm skeptical about that as well. We're in mid March. Is your Christmas within the last 30 days? I used to smoke weed very heavy. 30 to 60 days is the norm depending on your body type. Besides, why would you be thinking about SAP if you tested yourself first? If you're thinking about taking a pre employment test, you need to call and tell the company that you're not ready to go and that something came up. Get yourself cleaned up, then try again. That way, you'll avoid SAP and you won't waste any company's time and money getting you to orientation. Also, if you're caught with weed, the minimum is 3 years after the fact. Magnum goes 5 but there are companies that will hire after 3 years have passed. The question is, are you on your way to orientation now?

no this happened like back in January, im just now entertaining the idea of doing the sap program and getting back into trucking....no im not on the way to orientation and im clean now.
One of the things that we keep trying to get across to people...thank you @bryan21384 ...is that if you get caught in the SAP snare you're in it for life. It doesn't matter to most companies, unless they're absolutely desperate for drivers the SAP blotch on your record gets your app tossed in the round file. There are a couple of companies that encourage people from SAP to apply. They're usually not worth your time and they're the kind of outfit that will starve you out and ruin your driving record all at the same time. Smoke all you want...or drive. You can't do both, ever. Your choice entirely.
so I guess its not worth my time and money and I should just move onto something else....thats what im getting....and thats fine, this is the kind of info im looking for.
Driving might not be the thing for you. Nobody likes the pot laws but they're not going away anytime soon. I've seen some pretty good drivers ruin their whole life over that stuff.
