Not everyone's mind works like that. If you can't get ahead on your own merit, an alternative is to lower everyone else below your level so you look good by default.

You guys know what I'm talking about, and you know which category you fit in.

Right, same here. Never drove off without checking the locking jaws and king pin. So even though I may have side hooked and managed to bend the release arm, I still did not drive off until the locking Jaw and king pin was secure top to bottom. So I'm basically in trouble for damaging the property, but safety department says they're gonna call it a high hook whether I agree or not.

With the times I've heard about high hook being automatic fire, that's why I sort of hung up the phone and assumed it's over anyways.

A big 10-4 I get tired of greasing my fifth wheel so I drop bags back up till it's #### near hooked raised bags and move back about 6inches.

One time I didn't look and unjamming a king pin from the jaws without breaking anything is a #####

That's how I do it at my house after maintenance. And I only grease the back half of the fifth wheel.

In 30 years I've never did that , not trying to say i was perfect , but you need to make sure your under the trailer deck plate before you slide it home , cant see let this be a learning experience, cant see , invest in some dewalt rechargeable lights , study were your drive tires sit under the trailer when your hooked up properly to give you a reference point , best of luck , im here to help not hinder.

Most of them self-snitch - they either needed to call for help to figure out how to free themselves, or tore up the equipment and needed repairs, or had to explain why they were late on the load. Or posted it on social media.

You'd be surprised at how few Schneider drivers drop a dime on a coworker. Most times we help the idiot and leave it at that.

The other way to look at it is removing worthless idiots from the company.

You've been driving about two years, how many times have you jumped the kingpin? Last year we had an idiot that did it three times in a month. The first time, I showed him how to get out of it and gave him a stern "I know its frigging cold, but you have to do your job" talk but did not make it "official". Second time the yard jockey at our plant helped him out. Third time he fixed it himself, but the customer's yard guy told me because "Brian" got lippy with him. I was going to talk with "Brian" first so he knew I was going to drop a dime, but before I could he out in his notice. He'd hit the experience threshold for JB Hunt intermodal and was jumping over for the money. I still let the DM know. A month ago, he applied for rehire and was denied. We don't need window lickers like Brian in our industry. We can try to train the ignorance out of them and guide them away from idiocy but we can't fix lazy. Brian was lazy and his laziness was going to cost someone. I'd rather that someone be Brian than a bystander.

Yeah it's pretty much over now. It turns out I wasn't fired just yet apparently, but my driver leader took my last email as a resignation.

The email started with her saying

"I'm not sure if you hung up or if the call dropped. Please let me know a good time to call or if you would like to continue the discussion" (The conference call with safety department and other higher ups).

I responded saying "Hi, yes I hung up. I've had enough. Been through a whole lot of mess and never gave up, just to get things done. Only for them to keep piling things on my record"

This was yesterday before I posted on this forum.

Today this morning the response was "Hi, I will process your voluntary resignation effective today. Please see attached. Best of luck to you!"

Well I feel a little stupid but at the same time relieved. I'm already on their crap list anyways. It's better to have a voluntary resignation on record than a termination. Because I feel like they would have fired me for something eventually anyways.

I just got a call this morning for an interview at a gas delivery company on Tuesday. From what I hear it's a union job. It's 4 days a week at 10 hour days, and I've heard there is no load pay. From that alone it seems like the pay will be less than Schneider, but I could be missing something. Trucks are automatic so thats good.

The only concern is if my record from Schneider will show on dac report by Tuesday and if I should mention anything. If anyone has some advice on that I'd appreciate it

Hold on. Stop blaming the GPS for an amateur mistakes. If you didn't check ahead to know how to enter a destination new to you, and you blindly follow a GPS taking you into that situation you described, you failed. You own it 110 percent. Blaming your tools for your failures won't get you far in life.

You weren't fired, you resigned voluntarily.
What is on the "attached" she sent you. Might even luck out and the attachment says, "eligible for rehire."
Go by attachment instead of volunteering something that isn't on a DAC report.
