I got my initial packet of papers from my school today. 2/3 of the packet was applications and brochures from different companies. There were over 10 different companies in there, everyone from Roehl (would like to work for them) to USA truck (NFW). These are supposed to turned in on the first day?! WTF, over.. I have been lurking around and reading the boards long enough now to get a reasonable idea of who and what to look at and who to stay away from. I feel bad for the poor person who chooses a company by the drivel they put in the brochures. The worst companies had the prettiest ads, go figure. Shouldn't they wait until at least the road portion begins to start recruiting?
Roehl is a good company. Very good training program. The guys in the class and I enjoyed it. The trainers are tough but they drive alot of what you need to be safe on the road in to your head.
This old post may be interesting for some. It is actually a good thing the school is helping their students to get prehired even before class starts, since the application process can take a couple weeks. Once you're done with school and get your CDL, you want to be ready as soon as a company invites you for orientation.
