What? Swift pays for showers? I take one every day that's how I get my day started and hate when I rarely have to go a day without a shower. All the money the past year I have spent on showers and I did not know this.

It's in the handbook that they do but it seems to be up for debate at the moment. I seem to remember getting reimbursed for a shower recently but am not sure. I will scan a receipt and report back. Others say they don't, or that they used to but no longer do.

You can take them off your taxes. You did have someone do your taxes that knew how to do trucker taxes?

I got every penny I paid in back. Between tools, "office supplies," the daily meal allowance etc. I got it all back! I only had a few showers I had to pay for. I stayed at Lee Hi T/S in VA a few times.

The terminal in Avenel, NJ doesn't have showers. That place is tiny, avoid it at all costs...

I don't even call that a terminal. If I have to pee in the bushes, it's not a terminal. Same goes for Houston.

I rarely paid for showers after I was made aware of the old trick of asking another driver who is fueling if you can be his or her co-driver so you can get a free shower. I used this. I would start up a conversation and kindly explain that Swift doesn't give us open fuel cards and could I possibly bother them to let me be their co-driver so I could get a free shower. Most every driver obliged me.

At the time I was a very financially crippled new driver and a ten dollar expenditure was major. It was bad enough having to put out my own money to scale loads.

Showers are tax deductible? No, No, No !! (I tried that, too- didn't impress the IRS).

Avenel is NOT a terminal, it's a drop yard. (Stacy, correct me if I'm wrong). Don't expect to go there and expect to have the amenities (LOL) of a bonified Swift terminal. You'll have to go to the Gary terminal for all the "perks".
