Sleeper Seal

How much of a job is it to do a sleeper seal on a 94 W9 non-Aero cab flat top?

 

Not bad. Just time consuming. Lots of screws to remove. Do Not use any kind of sealant of the boot.

 

So no sealer at all. It just screws on?

 

I got everything apart today, yes lots of screws. Maybe it's just me but I don't see how it actually seals. Water drips in right around the screws. Doesn't seem right to me to have no sealant under the rubber. Otherwise the boot looks good. I was thinking of covering all the top and side screw heads with some sort of sealant.

 

When mine was leaking, all I did was go around and tighten all the screws, problem solved.

 

I did that today in hopes it would fix it. Just doesn't seem like a solid lasting option though. Those screws will come loose again soon.

 

I did mine 4 years ago, no leaks yet.

 

It's pretty easy. I ended up having to put some sealant along the top but beyond that nice and dry.

 

Hearing they stayed tight for you gives me hope. It's just I saw a little sealant under there when I was looking around. I think the previous owner may have had an issue as well. I'll keep and eye on it. So far so good!

 

Some of the screws were stripped so I had to use new ones that were larger in diameter. Decided to do all of them. If it leaks now, then something else is going on.
