I'm having issues pulling a flatbed with a Moffet on the back. It feels like the trailer is going all over the place once I get over 50 MPH on some roads. The 5th wheel is set in the middle. The trailer has both RSA and Skid tires. I just want to know if there is a correction or if this is common.
Put weight over the fifth wheel Some manufacturers add weight plates under the deck between the stubs over the fifth wheel. Some people put a flat piece of steel 4’x8’x1” and bolt it to the deck with countersunk bolt holes to correct it, if you have a spread axle, put a lift on the front axle and that will help when empty.
Is there too much weight on the tail? I also have a claw strapped to the back for picking up cubes of brick pavers. I suppose I can strap that up front over the fifth wheel. Thanks
It’s not that there’s too much on the tail, it’s that there’s that much on the tail and none on the nose to compensate and hold it down// Hauling pavers I bet they don’t want to add a whole bunch of weight as it will cut the product load. UTT?
I don't know what UTT means. I will try placing the claw over the 5th wheel. It's pretty heavy. Thanks for your input. It's appreciated
For pavers I’d have that lift on a top mount right over the middle light of the trailer. Natural and manufactured stone you can give up that deck space easily and still get up to weight. Ride better and won’t beat up on the lift so bad on the empty cycles.
