Decided which company sponsored program to attend and looks like Stevens. I was hoping for Knight but looks like after I retire from the military, they don't hire out of Iowa, which will be my "temporary" home state. I got pre-hired by Stevens, they just need a copy of my discharge paperwork. They sent me an email regarding information about the company/drivers. In it, it states they have the longest haul per load (1400-1500 mi) and could possible make 2800-3000 miles per week...at .26 cpm. The pay is low compared to other companies, but if the miles are there to run, then it almost evens out. Was wondering if anybody here that's currently driving for them can confirm the above numbers? I know once i go solo i wont expect to run that hard. Do they run 9-10 speeds, auto's? They do have nice trucks, from what I've seen on the roads here in Vegas and they also have APU's. My plan is to have the wife ride along once I go solo after the probation period. Thanks for any info you have.

I was told by the recruiter I would be heading to the Denver school. Which is fine by me cause I enjoy being in Colorado...and that's where I want to settle down once I have a few years of driving under my belt. Thank you and you're welcome Enjoyed my 20 in the military but it's time to move on with my life and do something I've always wanted to do.

figure more like 2000, to 2500 miles per week in the beginning six months, as you learn how to manage your time, the log book, and how to deal with shippers and receivers. Also need to learn how to make the meat patch your friend, and when to say no politely, and when to say yes I can do that. And for company drivers they only require 2000 miles avg per week. Stevens actually using a 9 speed convertable eaton, with a low gear, so it is shifted as an 8 speed. The transmission is quickly upgraded to a 13 speed when they sell the trucks. and the aviary is a good place to get information, both good and bad. I am not a current stevens driver, just a former driver who is thankful for the training I got, and the 5 years I was with them, I had more good days than bad. Have to remember that Stevens is a training company, and that includes driver managers, and dispatchers too.
I believe the starting rate is now $.28 CPM and as a grad Student I averaged 24-2500 miles a week, that picks up as you prove yourself with on time deliveries and pick ups and you endurance increases.
Starting rate is infact .28 with 3 raises in the first 12 months. Yearly raises after. 31 cpm is very much on the lowside for 12 months on the road however their training, safety, and equipment all seem to compensate for this. It will be .32 after 12 months as I understood it. 28 to 30 at 6 months, 31 at 9 months and 32 at 12 months
