Talk to your FM ... But be prepared. The FM is going to back their DM. You need to have no SF, high percentage of load acceptance, no accidents ... in other words you need to show that you are a sterling driver
Really shouldn't matter who your Dm is....if its your miles....do your macros and accept loads....DMs are highly overrated........
They can help some times, but I agree. They are not the ones getting you loads, the planners are. And then it all depends on where you are, and who the planners are in that area. I am based in Otay Mesa, but I'm seldom in CA. I'm everywhere else most of the time. I am planned out of the nearest terminal to my current location, not Otay. Lady Volvo, what problems are you having with your DM?
If your dm isnt a aggressive dm. It does make a difference. Great example. I have a buddy that went to orientation the same tine I did. He doesnt run to make himself the most available. He wont run nights etc. he is a platinum ranking. He gets 2800 to 3000 miles a week. Me on the other hand I am the opposite. I dont decline loads if I can do them I run so instead of having 1 hour after delivery I have 5. And my miles weren't up there. I changed dm and its a world of difference. Better loads more miles less stress
Maybe?...ive had 12 different dms...and 6 since I have been lease /op....im consistent...not my dms...they are all over the board as far as I know....coz if they so good...why do they quit so much always?.....I have consistently kept my macros up...approve my logs...and sometimes even turn loads down for not the best of reasons,lol...but im consistently offered via mac 30 and planners.generally light, generally best load for my hours....its the system I think....or the unseen hand of god?..lol,but I doubt that...I think the system IS a little intuitive..that or im "special"...but I doubt that too...I am polite but clear and firm on what I want when there is a problem tho...maybe that's it?
well first impressions are everything when it comes to meeting your DM for the first time, and you're being told by your new DM that you have to do everything their way, I see that as a problem and also I don't appreciate being talked to like a child yes there are millions of drivers out there and yes there are millions of companies that you can work for as a driver but I would prefer to be looked at as a person not a number and not talk to as a child within the first 5 minutes of me meeting my new DM he made it plain and simple that I was just a new number not a new person
well...yes lady Volvo that's true...we are all just truck numbers...your not going to impress a dm..they see so many come and go it aint even funny.....they forget u before your even out the door...its true...that's why I say do your macros...approve your logs...take the loads....your working the system swift has in place to give you loads....work the system...not your dm...forget him until u have a problem....does this sound harsh?....well 17,000 plus drivers and 100% turnover every year...that's what you get...don't take it personally....just a word of advice from a near five year vet at swift,haha....
unfortunately, you wil be a number till they get to know you. just be respectfull and curteous(sp?) when you talk to yours. all dm's care about is if your pick up and deliver on time. do all your macros correctly. no tix or accidents. if your dm can't solve your problem, go to his boss and see if they can help. follow the chain of command upward. i get along with my dl. i talk to him at least once or every other day(except weekends). when i'm at my terminal, i always go up and just bs for a few.and let him know whats been going on or issues i have had.. knows me by my name and face. just remember, they have alot of drivers they are in charge of and some of their driver are not easy to get along with. hope this helps
