Are you enjoying swift? How is their mentor program? How are your weekly miles? I know Swift doesn't have a great reputation here but I want to here from y'all personally. Is Swift a good starter company? I am trying to decide between Werner and Swift, I know I'm not gonna get rich with either one of them, but I would like to at least like to have good miles and be happy. Any help is appreciated!

werner is better. most trucking companies "Don't" recognize swift transportation as experience. that is due to swift milling out drivers. or what we use to call 3 week wonders. which resulted in 1000's of wrecks in the last decade. which caused swift to be investigated. which lead to swift getting caught with illegal and un safe operation of driver training school. which lead to 100's of people having there cdl taken away by the states due to the swift driving schools. which lead to swift getting fined $45 million by the us government. which also lead to very strict and heavy regulation. which lead to the csa program. which leads to the fmcsa threatening to take any truckers job at will. this we can blame on swift transportation...

If you work for swift you have the pleasure of hearing people tell you outrageous and hilariously erroneous things such as this!

Swift is the sole reason for more regulation and the CSA?

    WOW!
I never knew we had such power.

And since Swift is still in operation, and the largest trucking company in the U.S., I guess we just skirted by all those regs after implementing them by being so unsafe?

I sometimes get pulled into the scale houses to update my registration info, but that's about it.
    My Prepass is usually green.
Such would not be the case if Swift were the cause of all the problems.

You're so funny, and so poorly informed! Yeah, there was a problem with one of the Swift schools and the 3rd party testing, and yes there was a problem with drivers from that school having their CDLs recalled. The rest of your allegations are mostly lunch counter fodder.

I drove for swift most of last year and one thing i really liked was getting a green pre-pass signal at the majority of the scales.( in states that recognize pre-pass, ## Oregon) Also my truck was in good condition and maintenence was easy to get and regular. On the other hand they still have a lot of old rusted out trailers on the road, technically legal, but butt ugly. One time the terminal had to practically rebuild the trailer before i could take it. And of course it was a time sensitive load haha, messages every half hour, "is it out of the shop yet?" Never could figure how someone agreed to take it to drop at the terminal. Well, some peoples pretrip is go and take a pee.

Just curious, how did you come up with Swift and Werner ? I have been reading on here for a while now and have heard a lot of negative about both and it seems like Millis, Prime and Maverick seem a little better.
Maybe I am missing something so very interested in your choice.

I only have three months experience and it was back in 09, those are the only companies that will take me at this point. Prime and millis won't touch me until I have more recent experience. I was at maverick and loved it, went through the orientation, was going back through the hands on training before they told me that they didn't think flatbedding was for me. So here I am with swift or Werner. Maverick tried to get me in TCD, but they weren't hiring in my area. I'm leery of both of course, but like I said, if I can make a little bit of money and be happy I'm all for it.just need to know more about swift, I've noticed alot of their trailers look old and rusty, but their seem to look decent. What are weekly miles like? Do they do a good job of getting you home?
