Mabe that came off the wrong way. I also have had nights were at the end of 14 I couldn't do it either. You can usually tell if they have somewhat of a clue. If its just a losing battle, I wont get involved.

On the other hand I have tried to help out, but been ignored or shunned back to my truck.

FWIW, years ago, I was backing into a tire repair shop in Rock Springs, WY. One of their tire busters came out and started "directing me back." He "directed" me right into the overhead of the door, at which point the manager came out and tried to collect $ 50.00 from me for "building damage."

This was an obvious scam. That building had so many battle scars it wasn't even funny.

HOWEVER, as the driver, it was MY responsibility to assure that I wasn't going to hit anything. They did get their 50 bucks out of me, in addition to the tire repair. I'm sure it bought beer for the crew for after work. Or possibly during work. . .

For their trouble, I fully documented the situation, along with pictures of the building, and forwarded it so safety. So, long story short, they got their 50 bucks, but they lost all our business. I hope it was worth it to them.

Anyway, just a note here about helping somebody back, or allowing somebody to help you back. . .

You are still the driver, and you are responsible if you hit something. You are the one controlling the truck.

So. Is that what happened in this collision in the original post? Somebody was helping Swift back up because he was too close to the lost tire? Those skid marks must be from a previous incident then. Did anyone get the hand's name who helped Swift put his trailer on that poor, innocent 4-wheeler?

I can get around things just fine. I get so paranoid about the overhang hitting something on the other side that I never can get it in right. I've taken to cheating (as usual.) I pull up, unlock the tandems, back in all crooked, grab the bar, and when I pull forward with the tandems sliding back, everything straightens out. Also helps with the old t600 not turning very well.

Do you have one of those blue Handicap permits in your truck?

Since when is there any "code" or regulation prohibiting a handicapped person from driving a big rig?

I know several handicapped veterans....(lost limbs)....now dealing with life with prosthesis and functioning just fine....driving big rigs.....and they qualify for that little blue sign.

Why were you parking in the handicap spot...illegal if you aren't legally handicapped......before anyone else gets it in.....mental handicap does not count...we all have that or we wouldn't be truckers! RIGHT?!!:biggrin_25525:

I don't mind the handicapped spots, but do they have to mark out the entire spot next to it so nobody can park there? Who the hell would have a 10 foot wide wheelchair 70 feet long? A killer whale?
