IP...you know me and it has been said that I will (and can) argue with anybody about anything at any time!

Now with that disclaimer on board......IP I DISAGREE WITH YOU FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:

    1. You are basing information coming from, as you so cleverly put it, from "the safety experts in the industry". This is your first mistake...without these "safety experts" we probably wouldn't be in the situation we are in right now. How many "experts" can claim to be an "expert" without any experience behind the wheel, only working a desk jockey position with a "college degree" to claim said "expertise?!!!

    2. "As opposed to the morons at FMCSA"? Not all the people working within FMCSA are actually morons....the true morons are the ones at the top who let the snivel groups like MADD, PATT, and others bully the decisions and changes in rules and regulations using outdated, with uncorroborated, and non-documented statistics. Talk to the Secretary of Transportation....LaHood, now you get the real MORON IN CHARGE!

    3. Using the old antiquated system of "crashes per million miles driven", is proven to be unfair to the small companies and individual owners...like BW900 as example. It will take him 6 years to rack up a million, so how can you compare a company of 10k+ to an individual and vice versa? which is what the CSA2010 attempted to do...create a system to "equal out" the accident, injury, and death ratios. What you posted above is valid in an antique way of analysis!

    4. Using old antiquated system of analysis to determine Swift is safer than W/S could be said to be true.....prior to CSA2010 information standards. Also keep in mind that the CSA2010 scores are really aimed at getting the shipping companies to "prefer" using the larger mega-carriers and to make another feeble attempt (with Government backing) to eliminate the Independent Trucker....since the CSA2010 was garnered and supported by the ATA...and we know who are the members of the ATA...the big money mega-carriers and their investors!

the whole point of the CSA 2010 criteria was to get a level playing field for all trucks and carriers. The million mile "potential", as you put it, is reached by Swift on a daily basis...W/S takes 2.8 days to hit 1 million....the individual truck takes 6+ years to hit that "comparison potential" ! The old system was biased to the larger company...the mega-carrier to keep their "potential" numbers appearing lower.

You folks need to do some research on statistics and how easy any "stat" is to manipulate in favor of one certain grouping.

Otter, you just contradicted yourself. First you say CSA 2010 is set up to favor large fleets, then you say it's set up to level the playing field.

I agree with your first statement, though.

    Here I go again...disagreeing...LOL

I think you misinterpreted my statements. In the first post I said the old system was biased towards the mega-carrier....in the second I said the CSA is set up to create a level playing field for all carriers.:biggrin_2558: :biggrin_25525:

Tom... you're just plain wrong, and its just too #### late at night to go do a 400-level course in statistics. I took a couple of those in my undergraduate studies, and have a moderate familiarity with the subject.

Suffice it to say that if you take the number accidents and miles driven form a ratio and express it in terms of millions of miles driven, BW900 will come out just fine. It levels the difference between the size of the carriers, and how much exposure they have on the road.

Agreed, and not because hubby drives for Swift, in fact he is a W/S driver and he along with alot of other drivers (not necessary the few that post on here) feel that he has become an embarrassment to the company. I've heard more than one say they wish he would take the picture of his truck off of here. I've followed his posts from when he first went to orientation, and I can't believe the way that he has changed. Seems like all he wants to do is bash drivers, company's, dispatchers, etc. etc. etc.
