Do not drive for swift. While there are some good people there, they are a giant corporate behemoth, with the worst maintenance and service imaginable, shoddy terminals, and no respect at all for you as if you might have an actual life. They have an F rating from the BBB for a reason. Low pay. I hope they are forced out of business and the owners go to jail. Avoid like the plague. And, BTW, so you know, I drive for them currently, but that will soon change. They will make it as hard as possible to leave, so do not start. Trust me. I hate them with the fire of a thousand white hot suns.I do every chickens*** requirement and am safe, but I might as well be a faceless number. Stay away! Addendum: I have to do AC service myself, out of pocket of course, and nurse the ECM along, because their plan for fixing your truck is jump in a loaner. I've driven for them for three years, and the spy cams are the last straw. I can't get a b service for three days and they are tying up thousands of hours of shop time installing cameras. F*** swift. Die Richard Stocking. You worm.
Now that sounds like a lot of disgust with SWIFT. Sad part is that a lot of negative stories come with the SWIFT name. Hopefully you land with a much better carrier.
I dunno, when I stopped working for them leaving was easy. Put in for home time and told my DM that I was quitting. Got routed to my home terminal, parked and cleaned out my truck, turned in the required paperwork to the shop. Went and saw my DM and handed him the keys. Nothing difficult, and no.. they didn't annihilate my HireRight/DAC report. Perhaps in the five years it's been since I worked for them things have gone further down hill. Wouldn't surprise me.
It's amazing to me that with Swift's reputation, people still decide to work for them. Maybe Obama's recovery plan isn't as good as the media suggests.
Friend left the other day and not a single problem. Was told that all is good and that if the new job does not work out then he is welcome back. Seems that every once in awhile a driver will post about how bad, but we never the get the whole story. Also has anyone noticed that there are not that many that post negative comments. I have been here over 4 years now and just started my second lease. Do they have their bad points, yes, but then again, what large carrier does not. Oh and as far as low pay. I will call BS on that one since they just had 2 raises in the last 6 months. If I was to go back as Company driver I would start at over .50/mi. Drivers right out of school and done with trainer gets in a truck starting at I believe now .32/mi and if lucky enough to get right on a dedicated account that pays more they will get what that account pays.
