Id find out what they haul the most. That will tell what youll want to look into buying. I started out with 2 8ft so I could cover everything but it really wasn't worth the headache. Not enough big loads to run them. I run 2 6ft with flap and a 16x 27 which is 4ft no flap. Also have 16x16. Rarely find anything I can't haul. Actually use to 4ft no flap the most. Just my 2 cents. They do make hybrid tarps which are lighter that im actually looking into now.
i was just looking at some lightweight ones at mytee products. They all have flaps tho. My last company had 8 foot drops but didnt have flaps, i actually think id rather not have the flaps..
I like the flaps, myself, not my tarps, but got 4 20x24, 2 with flaps, 2 with out, only use the ones with flaps on tall loads
You can buy a 3 tarp set for less than $1,000 from Lookout Mtn Tarp. They are out of Alabama and will ship them to you anywhere in the country. I would go with either a 3 tarp set or 1- 8' and 2 steel tarps. I started out with that combination and it worked very well for me. I was able to turn the steel tarps sideways to tarp a high load. Pulling a step deck I have usually carried at least 5 tarps.
I have 12 x 12 smoke two 16x25 with flaps "lumber" two 16x25 "steel" AKA a 4 piece system. Very flexible and easy to handle, all 13 oz.
I believe I have the best setup. I have a set of: 2- 6'x24' with flaps 1- 8'x24 with flap 1- 12'x12' as smoke/coil tarp No need to carry so many tarps. Get the heavy oz material, and if it's missing D rings have a shop custom trow a new strap line of D rings anyway you want it on them.
