How do you cope with road tests and what not? I still struggle so bad for it. My anxiety is so high I don’t know if I’ll get out of the parking lot.
Self confidence. You’ve already done it. 1 trick is to pretend YOU are showing them HOW to do it. They’re nothing, show them how it’s properly done
CDL road test anxiety. Yep, most of us had that to some degree. Just try to calm the nerves by avoiding excessive thought about the test. Try to occupy you mind with something else before it. During the test remember not to hurry, be smooth and a bit slower is better than hurrying. If you are not certain about instructions during the test, speak up for clarification. When it’s done, it’s the best feeling in the world - since you’re going to pass.
Dont think of it as a one shot deal. You'll get more chances. Think of the first one as a practice road test.
I don't know if this will help, but I suggest taking a deep breath and just relax. I know an examiner that has told me many times he gives a pass from time to time when an applicant makes a mistake and it's because of nerves. These examiners are not expecting you to be super truckers. They just want to know you can handle the truck and know the basics of safety and compliance with the basic rules of the road. If on test day you are still nervous have a brief conversation with the examiner. Most of the ones I know are masters at putting an applicant at ease. I am positive when all this is over you will look back and laugh at yourself!
I always start BSing with the guy giving the test. and by the time we get out there on the road we're just a couple guy talking while we ride around. Really takes any pressure off.
