What is the minimum a new driver should make a month? Right now I'm $0.40 a mile and only made $3,500 this month roughly..

Daaaaayuummm, let him know how you really feel next time.

.40/mi is a good starting pay I think. I would say 2500 miles a week should be an average as a solo driver. Some weeks more some weeks less. 2500 miles a week for 4 weeks would come out to $4000 gross. I dont know how new you are to your company, but sometimes you have to prove yourself to your dispatchers and let them know your willing to run hard.

$3500 gross a month would come out to $42,000 a year. In my opinion, and as ####ty as this may sound to you, thats not bad for a first year driver. Ive heard people making less than 25k at some starter companies.

    Good luck

Yeah I don't think he's got much to complain about. That's on the high end for new drivers at most starter companies.

Sounds like you are only running about 2000 miles a week. Run more miles make more money.

Some people get so caught up in the cpm they lose sight of the big picture. That is only a part of the equation, how many miles you run is the other part.

As others have said, you are not doing bad for a first year, and it should get better as you get better.
