I was talking to Peterbilt's F&I guy today.
He told me that many of their California customers title their new rigs in OK instead of CA....
The rigs are still IRPed with CA plates.....

Is there a tax advantage to doing this?

Are you sure you can title in one state and register in another? What does the F&I guy say?

I used to work for Dalworth Trucking (later bought out by Arnold) years ago and they titled their tucks and trailers in OK for tax reasons. I was told they had to have a terminal in OK, allbeit a small one.

My truck is titled in OK and proated out of IL. OK has no sales tax excise tax or other tax on trucks and trailers. But I do live in OK. Few years back several went to jail over selling OK prorate tags and the state had to give IL 35 million.

You live in CA you get to pay for the privilege. But doesn't that west coast freight pay more?
