My hubby and I just got reseated from a Freightliner with tons of issues (2012-450k miles) to this 2013 prostar with 150k miles. Other than downsizing all the crap we had in the Freightliner, we like this truck pretty well. It runs. And that's better than what we had. It just has things that we are not use to. So since there are some real knowledgable people on here regarding Internationals, I need help identifying a couple of toggle switches on my dash. One says ENAB/Off road. It is currently in the off road position. Then there is one that reads Lock/PDL. It is in the PDL position. I'm clueless to both and don't have an owners manual. Thanks!!
The PDL stands for Power divider lock. Basically like 4 wheel drive. Use only in bad weather and at slower speeds. Otherwise leave unlocked
The PDL switch locks in the rears so they both work. PDL is power divider lock. Usually, just the one rear is engaged. Only use that if you need extra traction. Can't say about the other one. I have an idea, but I'm not sure, so I'll let someone else answer that one. I believe it's traction control, that will apply a slight amount of brake automatically to a spinning drive tire to get them to stop wheel spin.
winderful info. My thought about the ENAB. My trainer's truck had a switch that released air from the trucks airbags. We used it when we delivered at a Walmart Dock (sloped down) in about 6"-a foot of snow in the docking area. We couldn't get out. Just kept sliding. Once we released some air out of the air bags the weight allowed better traction. Just curious if the AB part might stand for Air Bags?
I don't think so. If you're curious, just flip the switch when you're parked and if the bags deflate, you'll know. if the indicator flashes, I think it's the traction control, but don't be surprised if I'm wrong.
I got your answer. Here it is; ENAB/DATA LOG When enabled, allows the driver to log the last five seconds of data groups operational parameter values into ECM memory
Here's a link for your manual; http://www.crengland.com/sites/default/files/assets/files/Service_Manuals/prostar.pdf I got it off Englands web site. Don't hold that against me lol.
Wow, so I feel dumb. But that kind of sounds like a black box for the truck... Except one position says ENAB, the other position says Off Road. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with data.
