I was going to get EZ Pass, but one of you recommended IPass. I got to looking online, and there's also Best Pass, and PrePass Plus. Too many options, and they all say they're the best. For running the NE, which one in your opinion is the best, and why is it superior? Initial deposits don't concern me so much as ease of use, and a good online dashboard where I can cross-reference. I'd like to bypass scales too, if possible, but that's a secondary concern. I know PrePass Plus does both, and Best Pass has a bypass option. I know the best answer is "route yourself around the toll roads". So lets say I'm looking for the second best answer from those of you that run them. Why did you choose your solution instead of the others? There's a lot of threads here on TTR about this, but most are heavily outdated, and the newer threads don't come to a conclusion. They just sorta peter out.
I went through this too and was confused. I found that prepass doesn't work in all states so I was like well screw it then. Then I remember reading that you get the biggest toll discounts in the State that your EZPass is based in?? Which means we should all get PA Ezpasses! But I just went ahead and got a regular commercial EZPass through Ohio. The account interface is acceptable and pretty straight forward.
It was before I started running and before I realized how friggin expensive PA tolls are compared to literally every other state. They are good old fashioned highway robbers!
Also...I have never really confirmed that we get a bigger discount in the state that the EZpass is issued in.
Yes on Ezpass for sure! But I would need to confirm that more discounts are applicable in PA if I were to get a PA based EZpass.
I don't know for sure either. But I've seen signs that say basically: In state EZ Pass - $0.60 Out of state EZ Pass - $0.90 Toll by plate - $2.60
Why not just switch? Does it cost more for the PA one? Keep in mind, a couple weeks ago I thought you just buy EZ Pass, and it's good for the United States. Never knew it was such a ####ing pain in the ####ing ###.
Then yes get a PA one! I swear all other tolls are reasonable! But dang man...PA! Ahhhg! I may have to look into this again then....because I run a LOT of PA!
