Are there any companies out there that will put you in a truck without making you go out with a trainer first? I have over 3 years OTR experience with an expedite company(straight truck) and I drove a flat bed 18 wheeler for about 4 months regionally. I still drive locally in an 18 wheeler, and have done this job for over two and a half years. Would any company just cut me loose on my own?:biggrin_25524:

I know drivers who came on with Swift that had experiance and were assigned their own truck right out of orientation. Some had a day or two with a local driver to learn qualcom if they never used it before.

i would say maybe around a week tops with a trainer to make sure you can do what you say.

I'm sure there are all kinds of companies that would take you with the kind of experience you have without making you go with a trainer.

My only question is why you would wanna go OTR after 2.5 years of being home every night?

In a few years, the kids are going to be grown and gone and I was just looking into getting things moving in that direction, and see what's what. The little lady and I are looking to head out once the kids are gone.

My husband drove local for almost ten years. Pulled a 40 foot frameless dump hauling coal. He went to Celadon, had three days orientation, and was assigned a truck and out on his own the last day of orientation. No trainer.
