Recently on the roads I've seen an increase of these big diesel dodge trucks... four wheels on the back... and they're transporting varying things on these long trailers. I'm hoping to get into something like that and I want to know if you need a CDL License for it? Is it basically the same thing as trucking with a broker as the middle man? Any information will be greatly appreciate and thanks in advance. :)

To the best of my knowledge these people own their own outfits and are leased to a company. CDL yes.you will still be a professional driver. Most of the guys I have talked with are making a good bit of money, doing this.

Those are nicknamed 'Hot Shots' and they are subject to DOT regs too, including keeping a Log Book, and stopping in scales when they are open. Using a hot shot, you can haul lots of various cargo, including delivering travel trailers, cargo trailers, building materials, etc.

If you google jones motor, you should find their website. They are one of the bigger hotshot cos. out there.
