Hey ya'll, so im getting back into the driver seat as an o/o and im curious about any specific computer software that will help me as a business man. Im not sure where to get constantly updated fuel tax information for each state. I want to keep track of everything in a somewhat easy to use program I can input my miles, costs, how much the load paid, and what I need to set aside for Uncle Sam... What do you use and why?
You don't need no software for that just look at your bank statement or reach in your pocket there's not that much to go around now days. A good milage program is first thing I'd get so you'll know how big a lie the brokers are telling you, landstar has their own milage program I named it "landstar cheat you miles" gauranteed the shortest miles out there.
http://www.truckmiles.com/ this will do the miles you can input load pay and other things as well no DL required as for how much to set aside for taxes you may want to check out a quick books program

If it's you then I choose the computer. drivers daily log, one of the best tools I had as an independent owner operator.
I use Rand McNally, Truckers version, on a GPS, a Magnum Delta Force CB, and instinct. Save receipts, & drive. All the software I have needed so far.
