Big Willie, don't be afraid to ask the examiner what he wants or expects of you. He may answer your ???'s or just tell you to drive. For instance, "Can I float the gears or do you want me to double clutch"? "Can I take 2 lanes if need be to complete a right turn"? Let us know how it went.
so i am unoffically thru with school. i test out tomorrow and i know i will do great. after the trouble i had last week with making my right turns i now know the proper way and the patient way of doing them. my next post should be as a class A cdl driver on his way to KLLM orienatation on monday. and i will do my very best to keep a journal going on the KLLM board for any other drivers that may be intrested. Thanks to all of you for your support. God Speed
Ahh, but what do you do if you're swinging it wide and you would normally have enough room to clear it but that jack-*** 4-wheeler decided to stop beyond the stop bar, thus hampering your ability to make the turn? This can happen in one of two scenarios: 1) You're in the right lane to turn right. They're on the street you want to turn on to, in the left turn lane to turn left. -or- 2) You're in the left turn lane to turn left, they're on the street you want to turn on in the left-hand turn lane to turn left. Some people don't realize that stop bar is there for a reason, and it's so their precious car doesn't get hit by a larger vehicle that needs that extra turning room they decided they wanted to take. p.s. both scenarios may/may not have happened today.
oddly enough that did happen to me on my first day driving with my instructor. i cut in to make a right turn way to soon and almost took out a light pole. the guy in the pickup went over the stop line and was determined not to move out of my way but with the help of my instructor i saved it and did not hit the pole but did shake me up quite a bit. that was 3 weeks ago.
Well i was driving along and was down shifting from 10th to 5th to take left turn and forgot the hi/low switch and put it into 10th man i felt stupid
Big deal You're learning... stuff like that's going to happen whether you like it or not. Hang in there... you'll see improvement!
guess what.... i did it i PASSED on the first shot today so now i have an offical class A cdl license and now im just waiting on confirmation for orientation to start my new career with KLLM. my overall gpa for school ended up being a 95.5% which is pretty good. Thanks to all of the support that you guys have given me thru the forums. I will start a new thread once i start orientation.
Fantastic, Big Willie. Were proud o you ! Now, get on with it, cuz I know you got trucking in your blood.
