If the truth is known, jealousy is at the core. It takes "balls" to sign a union card and look at a company in the face and say, "we are joining a union" , we want better pay and benefits and a say how we are treated.

It's an important component of the type of relationship I want to have with employers.

I would sure hate to find out that the dispatcher's nephew makes $5 an hour more than I do while taking naps behind obscure businesses.

I think I saw that 170k was where it maxed out and it took 4 or 5 years in the pipeline to get to that level? Does that sound right?

    I miss my local 25 union days (1985-1988) :)

    The infamous local 25..

“Back in 1986, the President’s Commission on Organized Crime said that ?Local 25 was totally controlled by the Winter Hill Gang, i.e., Whitey Bulger.”

    Union meetings were mind blowing!

I know a young guy in his 20's that drives for UPS. He's making such good paychecks, his wife acquired a CDL and now also drives there. They'll retire early in life for sure. They both live frugally.

There are pros and cons to unions, but some people like/don't like Unions purely because of political affiliation. I personally lean toward unions, but being forced to join one in order to be hired at a particular company is unreasonable imo.

It's good that as a union member you are free to vote as you desire in any elections.
