Pending the circumstances it looks like I've just about secured a job with UPSF doing flatbed work for one of their dedicated accounts out of Stockton, CA. Passed the road test and all, looks like a solid gig doing the 11 western. Roughly 2000-2500 miles/wk. I'd prefer to do van but I figure if I pay my dues maybe I can switch to UPSF van division or something later on. Debating if I should continue being a yard jockey or getting back into the truck. Any thoughts?
Hmmm upsf flat bed??? What will u be hauling? Never new upsf did flatbed work... is that part of there truckload division
Yeah it is the truckload division. Seems that I'd be hauling pipes and plumbing type of stuff along with lumber on a 48' flatbed with the spread axles. The account belonged to Overnite before UPS bought 'em or something like that. I'm debating if I should even take it, maybe if it had been van I'd go for it. I've done flats and don't care to do it anymore.
I never done flats I wouldnt have a suggestion... here in ny upsf truckload is out 3 weeks at a time I like being local being that I come home every night... ups freight has a ltl division have u ever thought about ltl work either local delivery and pick up or road
I've tried looking for van work and doubles, doubles would be ideal since most of my experience is with doubles. There's a few openings that I applied to but everything is still pending. I don't even mind be away for a few weeks at a time, this gig would be great but I'm just not into the flats.
