As of the last conference call, they're keeping it. Just shelled the guy who's idea it was plus all the smart people who knitted it all together.
Sort of. Variant will now be USX's OTR group, and USX will be the dedicated group. Same company, different paint job.
Not sure how a driver lives on these numbers. Either they’re starving or USX has a ton of trucks sitting. Regardless, anytime a crappy place can no longer attract help and invents some other company, it’s going to be the same old story at their new, chameleon company. Don’t fall for it!
Both. Some get good miles/runs/pay and they recruit the hardest. Those not recruiting? Well, they are a reason for their last quarter showing a 150% turnover rate. The remainder of the trucks sit vacant, as most of the industry are onto USX and their chameleon tactics by now. Back to the drawing board.

Might be on sale, might be gobbled up by another mega, might go bankrupt. Feeling like a gamble today?
After I left someone sent me an article that they were backing down a lot of the “Variant” stuff. I think it’s going to stay that name, but essentially the things that they were trying to “revolutionalize” are going back to USX ways. It’s hard to get a read on them, but I think they are losing profits.
