Drivers can be shut down/ticketed for not logging on duty not driving when scanning paperwork at truckstops.
You can be shut down for almost anything. But the odds are you won't. A;ways cover your butt with the book while in a position for it to matter. You can adjust it to be more accurate later.
umm yeah sure......these are messages probably from your extra creative DM ahh...what we need is a special daily administrative pay allowance to compensate for the wasted time of on duty not driving..hmm.....a straight line from 1 to 4 should suffice i say
please list details? when scanning paperwork dont take no more than a few minutes, its less than the golden rule of 7 min. thats required to actually be logged. If i get to a truck stop at 3a, and there are NO spots available, so i have to get creative with my parking.....then wake up at 5a to see a couple spots open, and i move the truck, taking 2-3 min. to get parked in an actual spot, you think i'm going to log it? unless you're fueling, you don't gotta log it if it takes you less than 7 min. if that is the case, then why are drivers not being given log violations for not being on line 4 when scanning? Especially when its being scanned on Swifts POS scanners at the terminal?? would love to have the DOT shut me down for 10 hrs....cause by the time those 10 hrs are up, i'll have a lawsuit filed.
you must be pretty limber to be able to scan paperwork at truck stops from the front seat of your truck. =)
I carry a scanner in my truck. When I was with Prime, I scanned from inside the sleeper berth. I keep hoping Swift will get on that pogram. But to the subject, Mr. Jones is right. It takes me almost no time to write some numbers on a piece of paper and then hand it to a clerk to scan. To be absolutelry accurate, you flag it. But log 15 minutes for it??? Pshaw! Sounds like your friend is either not telling the whole story or copped a 'tude with a cop. That's just never a good idea.
