Sometimes def tanks are on passenger side. Maybe they are ignorant. Maybe they are Canadian. Maybe only passenger side fuel tank works.
One reason they may pull in the fuel island the wrong way is that some truck models have the DEF tank mounted on the right side, necessitating pulling in the wrong way to fill the tank.
when I cant park at the customer and am forced to find a truck stop I nose in more often then I back in. several reasons, usually by the time I get to the truckstop the pickins are mighty thin on parking spaces and imo (I pull a spread) its much easier AND safer to just pull in instead of trying to jack the trailer that hard to back in between two trucks in a tight area in the dark. plus its a much quicker process which avoids having all the drivers that where driving right out of the ###### from harping on the radio. also so my apu doesn't bother my neighbor all night and so there reefer don't keep me up all night.
I would nose in when I started. Its easier. I team drove so backing in traffic easier. It would take me fifteen min to back in when I started. I had a stretched wheelbase truck so backing in was harder. The bobtails taking up a full spot when there are other spots that are better irks me too.
