Fix old truck vs lease new vs newer used fix up

Well guys let’s see the opinions. I got a 94 t800h dump with pup. I’m trying to decide to put coin into the current truck vs lease new or.. I want to get a last model c15 in a Pete that’s mint and go right through it so it’s line new. Current truck is heavy spec with a 425 3406c all mech. Now to options.
Option 1. New paint job on the current truck. Gut interior to redo to my liking. Turn it up to max hp on stock turbo and be done.
Option 2. Lease new. I pretty much said f that tho. New Pete 389 is 3800 a month without pup and insurance. lol. Unless your running ten hr days at least mon to Friday it’s beyond stupid. Plus all the times the sensors and #### put ya in the shop.
Or... what i think it best. Be patient and find a mint Pete with a c15 and go right through it. I can stay under 150k cdn all in and it would be basically a new ish with a zero sensor def dpf blah blah. Whoa. Said a lot. Okay. Thoughts.

 

Not an expert here but if I was in your shoes I would go with option 1 for now and keep an eye out for a good deal on some old ones.

But I like the idea of being able to work on your own truck even if I don't know nothing about them

 

how about opt 3. keep making money with the beater. chrome dont get you home.

 

If you have a truck that is paid for that is working and making you money and all that it needs is a paint job and whatever interior work my opinion is...

Only a mentally-challenged person would get rid of something like that... for something unknown... that's going to cost you a lot of money out of your pocket.

Unless you just like burning money there's nothing to think about.

Better to make it and keep it.

Paint it. Custom interior it. Turn it up. Save up money When the c gives out ... toss an e model in it or get a SDP core and aftermarket it up to a good non emissions beast.

 

Never lease

 

Keep the old truck. While I think trucking will bounce back, probably before a lot of the other businesses will, but putting that much faith in the economy is foolhardy. When, not if, the bottom falls out, you'll be sitting pretty. New truck? Not so much. You'll see, these truck makers will be the next to fail. Who's buying $150K dollar trucks today?

 

Keep the old truck. The devil you know VS the devil you don't know. Plus with a newer cat say goodbye to paper logs

 

Better to stick with the “junk” you have then slightly newer junk you don’t know, personally I would redo what you have but if your in the right position new could always work, unless your really looking to loose some money (ie tax write off) then go with option 2

 

Oh I don't know, spend say $125k on a new truck, then have it break down and in the shop being fixed all the time sounds like a great move.


Or better yet buy some junk and have it crap out in four months.


What I like is make the present truck what you want, put that huge disco ball on the ceiling, jacuzzi in the back sounds right. Tuck and roll custom seats with back message and big screen monitors on the windshield for virtual reality driving.

Paint it hot pink or have it wrapped in a chrome color like green.
