I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how to get this last nut off on the bottom fitting for the air conditioning expansion valve.

The expansion valve sits on such an angle that you can't get a wrench onto the nut to break it loose.

The cover itself isn't the problem the case itself that holds the evaporator is in the way because of the angle this expansion valve sits.

    Any ideas?

It's probably hard to tell from the photo but the box that holds the evaporator is literally just about touching that nut. No wrench can fit around it.

I'm thinking that I may have to get a razor knife and trim that cover a little bit which I really hate to do.

Reef up on it a bit and a tube wrench will fit, there is some room for that. Have some that were ground down thinner. Maybe just the pic but it looks like it was kinked once.

Can you maneuver the evaporator to make room to get a wrench on it?

I guess I should start with taking the cover off and see if maybe I can get the whole thing to move.

I did try to pull up on it but I'm always nervous about manhandling things and that type of thing. The last thing I want is to end up with having to buy a new evaporator.

It is possible that someone bent it. Since I have had this truck I have never been into the air conditioning until now so anything is possible.

Line isn't so short that there isn't room for it to move. Clean out the sealant and pull up while using a tube wrench.

Its possible, I have never seen one like that. I just had to put an evaporator in my truck. One of the lines broke, when we attempted to take the same type of nut off it broke, as it's made out of brass, so be very careful, I have a peterbuilt and the evaporator was $451 before tax.....
