knight is the second company i've ever driven for. i was with swift for nearly 3yrs before coming over to their cousin company. i don't know what it's like at gordon. you'd be better off asking their drivers, or reading through the topics on this site about gordon, and then make your conclusion based off those opinions.

IMO, swift is a much better run company than knight. their organizational level is light years beyond knight's, the planning is 24/7, you can always get a hold of somebody during the overnight hours, MOST of their terminals are actually terminals that really do have running water, RESTROOMS (not port-o-potties), they also have showers, most of their yards/terminals aren't dumps, they also have fuel islands at the majority of them, and most of all, many of the dispatchers, driver managers, fleet managers have been drivers at some point before sitting in front of a computer all day. getting home wasn't usually a problem for me, either, and taking more than 4 days off was no big deal, too. i sometimes took off a week without any complaining from their end. i'm one of those dudes who stays out for a month to two months at a time. oh, and another thing, i was making $.39 per mile when i finally left. i left due to getting something local, out of the OTR industry, and came back after being shafted due to a #### hiring freeze.

two of the most annoying things about swift is that it's forced dispatch and their over-idle policy is downright lame. there are plenty of topics concerning that one.

    Braazooka Thanks this.

KR SUCKS!!!! And I mean everything about them. You will get low miles, They will sit you, they will throw a fit if you dare ask for layover, they will call it home time if you get by the house under disp. AND then expect you to run another 3-4 weeks. They will get you home late and expect you out after 34hrs. If you take more then 3 days you clean out the truck and they will find you one when you come back. Which may be 1-3 days after you wanted to come back. They will expect you to be ready to run out the door when they call. You are on stand by when waiting for a truck. Yes they expect you to be seating right there by the phone 24hrs a day waiting for that call and ready to run out the door when they call. Gordon is a much better company.

I know you and I have disagreed on other subjects in the past, but it looks like you have had the same problems with KR that I am having now! I wish someone warned me how screwed up these people are before I hired on!
On a different subject, was it Gordon that got fined for an APU that wasnt working and a driver couldnt get the required rest as he was too cold? It was posted on here somewhere, and I cant find it.
