Well I don't know who's going to be left between the defund the police movement which has actually defunded the police and not only done that it has taken the morale of the police to the point that everyone that can resign will resign or has already resigned and when you add to this this crazy mandate you're going to have a bunch more people resigning...

The crime that we have seen is going to be nothing compared to what's going to happen. There's going to be very little police left.

But it's okay everything is under control. They're going to send social workers to hostage situations, shootouts, gang violence in progress...

I'm sure that'll work out well...

Y'all don't get too excited, I'm sure they'll be opening the academy asap. If the existing troopers don't wanna work, I'm sure there are plenty vaccinated people who are just waiting for an opportunity like this.
And as someone else mentioned, there's always the military police to step in temporarily.

BTW, I'm wondering what these resigning troopers are planning for their future employment? Trucking maybe?

I was part of a dinner party last Friday night! A great friend his wife AND another guy lives near Richmond Virginia and is in the VSP. Both men are state cops. We were discussing these mandates in general. The guy asked a very important question. Are these real resignations or simply requests for unpaid leave? I am speaking about everybody NOT just these Mass state cops. This guy is high up in the food chain with the VSP and told me about 18 years ago he was in the Army reserve and had his unit deploy! He had to take unpaid leave from the VSP and was gone almost 18 months.

However, I'm with you on this! These answers will come out of the Mass codified labor laws, and with this being Mass, you can expect these laws to be somewhat liberal!

If it belongs to the National Guard, it's probably broken and deadlined from never being driven lol

They already had a staffing shortage because nobody wants to be cops any more. So I doubt if people are lining up at the academy to take their place. Resigning troopers simply have to move to another state, most of which have no such requirements to remain employed.

I agree in principle. Just to add, this state cop I was writing about said the VSP needs troopers right now! All the local city PDs around me have ads out for cops. However, some person that is approaching their middle ages, well starting over at the bottom might not be something they can afford right now!

Same as hospital personnel. "We'll just hire more." You guys couldn't keep up with demand as it was. How are you just going to hire more? Unless you plan on softening the barrier to entry...
