I mean a driver... Company claims they made history. Autonomous Trucks | Self-Driving Truck | Driverless Vehicles Boring video.
Cute story. We all Love the Jetsons. That was the first short skirt I’ve ever seen. And seeing flying cars on Back to the Future made us all imagine the future. But can anyone believe this will work? Wait until a wheel comes off the trailer and bounces through the windscreen of a Yaris and kills the driver and doesn’t stop. Will this be the next group of trucks piling up because it ran into ice and couldn’t stop? Mark my word, these things will kill people, many people and then the public will go crazy.
When all of the jobs become robotic/autonomous, humans will be out of work and on the government dole. Who will then buy all of the goods made/transported by machines?
Oddly , all the driverless trucks have a windshield and a seat and a steering wheel and pedals . Wonder why that is ?
Do you realize trucks with drivers in them, kill people every single day? People can keep their heads buried in the sand and think autonomous trucks will never be a reality, (kinda like those that swore ELDs would never become a reality) I give it about 10 years and this will be the norm out on the road. Big tech, and big money want this to happen, think of the fleets like Schneider or Swift can save in not having to pay all those drivers salaries.
I most definitely will happen in the not too distant future. Bulk commodities and truckload freight from major city and ports to final destination cities and DC's for sure. Don't really believe anyone should panic since it's also a good bet that autonomous inner city, short haul or regional is a longer ways off. There will always be OTR driving just not as we know it now imho.
