Those burger places might not have overnight parking. Might want to check into that. I wouldn't think of parking anywhere west of the 605 at night, maybe some street parking in Buena Park where I don't think the police give tickets. Buena Park even has designated truck parking on certain streets, probably the only city in the LA Metro that does that.

    Buena Park designated truck parking:

I’m parked at Cowboy’s Truck Stop, paid the $25 parking fee by having a fairly decent steak dinner. I’m going to head on into Los Angeles at about 4 am.

Bit late now around 1300 miles between Dallas and Barstow CA, if you can average 700 miles per day, you could pull up at Barstow, at the I -15/ I -40 Junction, which is about 110 miles north of LA . I used to stop at the Flying J / Pilot, then head on in around 2:30 / 3:00 am while the traffic is still moving at a good rate, any time after 4 am it'll be a slow crawl. Will be interested to know how you managed your trip. Hope all went well.

Having three days to make the drive, I drove 1250 miles on Saturday and Sunday, stopped at a rest area east of Albuquerque and then a rest area in the Mojave between Kingman and Barstow. Now I’m in Fontana, gonna drive to the destination in L.A. tomorrow morning very early.

My backhaul picks up tomorrow at 4 pm in Fullerton and delivers early Friday morning in Denton, Texas.

Was the train still on fire at the NM AZ line?

I drove by it 3 days after the derailment and it was still a raging inferno. IMG_5085.jpeg

No, I didn’t see anything. I didn’t know about it or I would have looked for debris!

Was pulling a bunch of gas tankers that caught fire and they decided to just let it burn itself out.

They had I-40 closed for a day or so, was a real disaster.

I’m going to follow the route you suggested, I’ll be taking Fairfax down to the entrance for the Farmers Market. My destination is right there at Farmers Market Place and The Grove Drive. A new high end furniture store going in where Maggiano’s Italian Restaurant used to be.

Again, thanks! I’m here and a crew is unloading my trailer as I write this. It’s funny, I passed another truck from my company on the 101 apparently heading here, too, and lost him on La Brea. I suspect that he didn’t do as much advance planning as I did and is either lost or followed his GPS into a bad place for a semi. I’ve been here for 25 minutes and there’s no sign of him yet!
