So i just finished my phone interview with a schneider recruiter, and was told, after reviewing my information i would be inelligable for hire.. Now, im trying to think of why this might be. I applyed for a tanker position, open to recent grads, i have no tickets in the last 5 years, No reportable accidents/incedents (unless my mother backing into my door in the driveway counts? Does it?) I have a tanker ensorsement allready, But i dont have haz-mat/TWIC or a passport yet.. but i was told at first, i can work on those after getting hired.. was that a lie possibly? I cant seem to figure this one out..
Who knows what these kooks are gettin' at. How's your background? If there is something in your background that could be why. How's your job history? Have you job hopped often? No your mom doesn't count. How old are you? That could be it for insurance reasons. My guess is as good as yours. I would just keep trying other companies.
It could be a bunch of things. Maybe they have more experienced drivers applying. Maybe they do not consider your school as certified. Maybe they have an immediate need for someone with Haz-Mat. I can not believe that they won't tell you why. However, if that is true, why not just apply for a dry van position? If they refuse you on that, then it surely would narrow down the problem. I also notice that you are still a student. I will tell you that while I recruiter would "talk" to me, they would not discuss any particular job until I was finished with school and had my CDL and endorsements. Raid3r
Well, i was told, when asking about other open positions, that i still wouldn't be elegable for hire.. Lets see.. im 23, actually, i got my CDL.. just forgot to change that.. so ill update here in a few minutes.. Ive only had two jobs, outside of trucking.. One that i was 'let go' from, to make an example of, because of everyones stupidity on that given day... But, im not gonna let it bug me too much.. time to look elsewhere
One of the questions the Recruiter is going to ask former employers is if you're eligible for rehire. The company that let you go may be the problem. It couldn't hurt to give them a call. Perhaps you could persuade them to help you out. Even 'Eligible with review" would be way better than simply "Ineligible for rehire".
It is hard to say why. By law, they really do not have to tell you. For them to deny, it had to be something real serious in their eyes.
Actually, they're covering their behinds when they tell you that "they're not going to be pursuing you". blsqueak is right, they don't have to tell you. By not telling you, I'm sure they cut down on all their headaches and potential lawsuits. Don't let it stop you.... get more applications out there!
The way I remember it, a driver had to be 25 years old to satisfy an insurance requirement. Could this be the issue? I've been talking with Schneider and I promise they're hiring if they can. Strata says he's 23 in his post. This was a job killer for me many years ago. I'd happily be 23 again now!
well i was leased on for 2 years on the choice side. i liked it and made good money there were some slow times but if i didnt work was just me not wanting to go certain places. ok i had a 1994 kw was a pretty good truck and didnt look like a 94. i had a chance to sell my truck so i did was going to buy a newer truck with better mpg. they told me to hurry and get back to work they didnt want to lose me. i decided not to right away. i talked to them about going as a company driver after about a month they told me no pretty much. 19 years no wrecks no tickets 18 years as an o/o. so tell me why?
