When I went to college I heard that freshmen usually gain 15 pounds their first year away from home. I wonder if something like this is similar with truck drivers. I know I have put on some weight, but I was curious what the norm is. And now that I have put the weight on, I need to find out how to take it off.

I have worked with drivers that have gained 60 lbs in a year! I heard it called "the Truck Drivers Disease." This doesn't have to be. First, be aware that the choices you make have everything to do with whether you stay healthy or start gaining.(And with the weight comes the health issues of high blood pressure, high blood sugar, sleep issues, high bad cholesterol, etc.)
There are always better food choices, healthier and less expensive!

It comes from sitting on your arse holding a steering wheel all day. You're not getting any exercise but your mind is free to wander, and you get hungry like normal.

I lost a few pounds by only eating ham n cheese sammiches at Subway since they're ####### everywhere. Maybe if I told 'em no cheese or mayo I would've lost more, but ####, I'm not gonna do that.

I tried the salad bar thing, but I quickly realized I'm not much of a fan of rabbit food. I'd rather just eat the rabbit.

It's true that once I get an inverter installed in the truck the choice of the food that I take with me will improve dramatically. Right now I have to stick with canned foodstuffs and items that don't need to be refridgerated. And now I have to make sure to go out of my way to get up and move around, but it's hard to break the mindset of "if the truck isn't moving I'm not making money". And while I am doing better financially than my last job, I'm far from in the clear. Thank you.
