Can anyone tell me how to get to the AC evaporator and blower motor area on an 07 Volvo 780? Is it through the dash on the passenger side or will I have to get behind the engine air filter? My evap keeps freezing up and I am told there is a freeze switch or thermostat switch that is basically a probe into the blower past the evaporator that tells the compressor when to ease up, if the air temp gets to 40°. The last tech I spoke to said this is the most likely problem given the other symptoms.Any help would be much appreciated...

access is from the passenger compartment. you have to remove the bottem panel that wrappes around under the dash and then you can remove the upper part of the dash in front of the paasenger seat. pull out the blower motor assembly you should be able to see the probe.

yep, I wanna add, that evaporator temp senor is one of typical fails of Behr. If you work on Volvo, to remove upper dash cover of pass area you have to unscrew one bolt handle is held with (M8 with 1/2" socket), but my advice - remove handle fully becouse you can forget it is not secured and use it climbing in cab (especially dangerouse on cabovers). This handle hits your head and you fall out a cabin.... ( it looks funny, till other can see blood on pavement.

I work for Volvo dealer for more five years and I saw so many not so funny accidents..... especially with cabovers

Curious if you found problem. My ac will run great for about 10-15 minutes, then slowly die with next to nothing coming out of vents. I turn off the ac with the fan running for a couple minutes, turn back on and it's nice and cold full blast for about another 10-15 minutes.

Yes! The thermostat switch was the problem, and your problem sounds identical to mine. The AC evaporator is freezing up. The part cost me just $47 and I was able to install it myself. Took about 2 hours. The advice from the others above about the install was exactly right. My AC works flawlessly now.

Would this be the same on a 2006 vn610 with d12. I have mine apart but dont seem to be seeing this temp probe. Is it between the evaporator and the blower somewhere??
