Was at my normal shipper preloading for next day. Got loaded and went to pull away from the dock and felt some tension , this is usually how it feels when i leave this dock it has a powered ramp and lock mechanism with the hook. Well i pulled forward this time with the axle lock engaged and heard a loud noise. Bumper was laying on the ground. WTF the hook stuck and didn't release.
went and got the supervisor at the shipper he looked at it with another driver and they said the hook was still locked. Who is responsible for this mess? new pics phone103012 014.jpg

You are. You should have checked first driver - live and learn.

Just because you GET a green light, does NOT mean it's released.

Dock creep, your trailer will move away from the dock, you will put tension on the lock mechanism and you will not allow it to drop away.

That's why you should ALWAYS push back against the dock and creep forward instead of powering away from the dock.

NEVER allow your truck to pull away under full power. YOU WILL cause damage.

    #### you must have dumped the clutch and gassed on it. Kind of hard to believe you pulled away easy. If you did you would have to have felt that. It's all good we all mess up.

yep your fault. for future reference the red and green lights are wired to the dock lock switch not the lock itself so if the switch is in the unlock position the light will be green even if the hook is still holding

hey guys. its not for sure that he had to be given it hell to rip that style dot bar off. i had one ripped of when they locked it. i got lucky and heard it break. that style is aluminum welded and tend to wear the welds out when loading and hook docks alot. the bars mounts are so high and the hook is so low it does not take alot to pull it off

Um, you engaged the axle lock to pull away from the dock. No red flags?
