MJ1657, I have several friends that are gay and truckers, it's not something new. I had dinner with a couple last night who are O/O for prime and suggested I do this post to find someone. do you think it would be better that I just post something that says I'm seeking an open minded or non discrimination person? You saying I'm going to have a tough time is like confirming the trucking industry is filled with "haters". thanks for your advice

If you don't mention anything about being gay then doubt the subject will even come up.Just don't openly talk about it.That could strike a sensitive nerve.

So let me get this straight. You want to flaunt your gayness to everyone, but don't want people to hate you for it.

    10-4 good buddy.

    Don't ask, don't tell.

bryan, I think MJ was trying to say is that finding an open minded trainer may be hard. I really dont believe he meant anything else.

    pattyj and MJ1657 Thank this.

I'm not saying anything of the sort and I am not trying to come off as a jerk.

Don't you have to get hired on with someone then they will give you a trainer?

How at that time do you bring up the subject if someone is a "hater"?

I had a student on my truck a couple of years ago (for a previous employer) that I found out later was homosexual. I had no idea. While he was on my truck I never bashed homosexuals, blacks, Mexicans, etc. He was one of my best students ever. He is still driving and training for that same company now. In addition, we still talk from time to time and I consider him to be my friend. We have never discussed his sexual orientation once.

Most people straight or gay keep a division between their work life and personal life. You are going to learn how to drive a truck and not go on a luxury cruise.

CRB, What I mean by gay friendly is someone who does not mind being around gay people. as far as hitting on my trainer why would I do that, I have a partner of 10 years, and If I was looking well I'm gay - im attracted to gay people that kind of statement is very sterotype mind set.

Do not tell your trainer you are gay. That could be for very uncomfortable training for you both, especially the trainer.
