It was just this last week I was going to deere to get parts to get the planter going again which kinda screwed us because now who knows when we'll get back in the field we got 4 inches of rain yesterday and less than half our acres are planted. The first ticket was august of 2010 when I was 17. I am planning on going to court to try and at least get it knocked down to 14 over. I drive for the same guy I farm for so as long as I don't get put out of service with the 2 tickets in 3 years then I'll still drive. I just couldn't get an answer whether or not that first one when I was 17 would count. Any suggestions on dealing with the judge next month. Maybe tell the farming sob story and how I'm trying to pay for school by trucking this summer and if I get the full ticket i'll be screwed. Or plead not guilty and hope the state patrolman doesn't show?

Just plead not guilty, more often than not when you show up in court they will offer you a deal to pay a non moving violation. As long as they get there money they don't care why...its a win, win

With this company im at now. If we get a ticket no matter what type long as its a moving ticket. In a personal we got to call in right away. Tickets even know you are not in the ticket can affect you in many ways. Your better off staying at the farm your at now cuz more then likly you wont be hired. Their is no excuses for speeding 15over. I do 5over at max slow it down..

If I were you, I'd hire a lawyer and fight it. In the meantime, slowdown.

Depending on what state and county you're in, your traffic court may just consist of talking to district attorneys.....

I've never been to a traffic court i was thinking about explaing the situation that we were broke down in the field I was going to get parts and wasn't paying attention like I should have been. It was irrespomsible and it won't happen again. And see if I could atleast get it dropped to 69 in a 55. Is that something that works or is pleadingnot guilty and rollin with it the best way to handle it?

Look up the traffic court online for the county where you received the ticket and I'm sure you'll find some answers there.

15 over is a serious offense to where at the officers discretion you can be charged with reckless driving and arrested. So count your blessings there. Like others said if you fight it, preferably with a lawyer you can get it knocked down to 5 or 10 over which in an employer eyes is a huge difference. The one in 2010 will not be so relevant this August so you basically need to focus on the present one.

Now to get your head right. :)
You are suppose to be a professional driver. That doesn't mean you can handle a vehicle at 100 mph without wrecking. It means you drive in a everyday safe manner to keep you and the motoring public safe. It means you take care of your engine and drivetrain. Driving is a lot like poker when it comes to odds. You can drive crazy where your odds are 5000:1 to get in some kind of incident over the next 50 years or you can practice good safe habits that will raise your odds to 10000:1. When it comes to a job or possible death 10000:1 odds sounds a lot better. When that CDL puts a roof over your head and food in your mouth you need to respect it 24/7, on duty and off duty. You're young and have a lead foot. We've all been there. It's time to lose that attitude. Some things in life you just have to get older and look back to realize how stupid some things are that one done when they were younger. If you are having a hard time losing the lead foot at least put a radar detector in your personal vehicle.

So, which is it, are you disgusted that he was driving that fast or because he got caught driving that fast?
