When my Garmin Dezl starts having fits when I pull onto the parking lot at the Petro in Perrysburg OH, I gave up paying any attention to the "truck only" routing. I flip it to auto mode and have enough brains not to go where I am not invited. It will route you in the strangest ways because of perceived erroneous route problems.
Now I know that Garmin makes a $7500 GPS unit for airplanes( just guessing here) that I am sure doesn't make any mistakes. I would spend pretty large bucks and some coln every month if I could get really good accurate routing and POI data along the way. But haven't seen it yet...

Went in and edited the garmin, and made my truck weight 79500. That took care of the I 80 in Nebraska problem. Wish the fix was as easy for running around NYC and their crazy bridge height measurement!! lol

The I80 problem has been well documented and Garmin is aware of the problem.

Garmin makes it far too difficult to report issues. And once you do, you have little reason to believe they give a dammn. That said, I still prefer my Garmin over a comparable Rand McNally

From LA to Spokane it tries to route me all the the way up 15 through Montana over to 90. I don't get that, especially when the most direct route is up 5 to 97 then 84 to 82 over to 395 and then 90.

Watch out for Garmin. If a road has a bridge with the break down lane at less then 13'6" it will not route you that way. You have to change your mode to CAR instead of TRUCK. Try that sometimes when it gives you a funky route.
