What does schneider/roehl do differently then werner/swift..

Schneider/roehl do 17-18 days of training vs 240 hours(swift)
275 hours(werner)

I decided to go with Schneider tomorrow actually wish me luck I am kinda wondering what I am in for. Also I hate greyhound.

 

You hate the Greyhound,does that mean you won't have to take the bus tomorrow?

 

No I will was gonna consider driving it's a 2 hour drive or three..but ill put my big boys pants on.

That was my 1st choice I won't complain about them it was a one in a million bad luck situation I had them rent me a car drove from Virginia to Georgia made it to mile marker one south Carolina Georgia border received a call from a person from roehl orientation told me they where overbooked could I go home and try again I was mad at first but they did everything to make it up to me even offered to fly me out following week there good people.

 

I gather you're from VA so SNI will probably send you to Charlotte for training. Great group of instructors and trainers there. When I started with SNI as a company driver in 2013 I did my training there. First week will be the paperwork/physical/yard training/driving with instructors/etc, 2nd week you'll be out with a trainer over the road, you'll do almost all the driving, trainer will be in the passenger seat next to you whenever you are driving, you will never drive as a team. Then you'll come back for the last week, finish everything up assuming both you and your OTR trainer feel you are ready to go, then you'll take a final road test with an instructor and then you'll be ready to hit the road.

When I say "week", some weeks are slightly shorter than others, not always 7 straight days. It will be a LOT of information to take in in such a short period of time, so don't be afraid to ask questions or get some extra practice if you want it.

I went to go work with Werner along with 3 others from my CDL school, two went to Schneider, one to Knight.

I spent well over 2 months in "training" you are run as a team, nearly 100% drop and hook or splits. Trained by guys who have a year or two experience. I sat in a motel every weekend because many trainers are given regional routes with lots of home time. I learned next to nothing except how to work the qualcom and be a world class steering wheel holder. I spent all my free time reading threads on here and asking questions to drivers at the terminals and truck stops so I could learn the little details about driving. 2 of the other 3 that went to Werner have similar experiences. The 3rd was a driver for 7 years in the 90s

The two guys that went to Schneider loved their training. They told me their training was more expansion of knowledge rather than making sure you can drive in a straight line. I can't tell you many specifics, but if you are already confident in your driving abilities then Schneider's training will be great for you.

Last time I spoke to one of them they told me they were getting stop pay, layover/detention pay on top of their regular cpm rate. I can't even get Werner to pay breakdown.

Thanks everyone I was with swift long convoluted story makes me sound like a whiner so I won't delve into it but I learned hardly anything from my mentor he was a cool guy but not knowledgeable.

I know I am slightly dyslexic so backing been my only issue. Plus I drove four hours a day to and from cdl school so it was retroactive in a away driving a semi for a couple hours then class just to drive a four wheeler for four hours.

I like shnieder seems like a good company I'll keep you updated.

As it comes to greyhound I am always sat by the biggest guy on the bus. I also learned I am eye candy for gay men I wished I had that ability on women I could be with any women (love my wife) but at truck stops with swift I almost felt harassed. Anyway thanks for the info.

 

Update on my own stupidity I leave the 28 not tomorrow re - read my email one more day with my wife and daughter sounds great though.
