Prime drop yards north of Boston? Where are they?

    I made it onto the Cape once when I was with Prime, on a delivery to the Wal-mart in Falmouth (not one of the funnest places to go in a truck -- the same can be said for a lot of Massachusetts). A lot of Prime drivers in the Northeast are company guys, mainly based out of Pittston. I rarely rarely saw Wil-Trans drivers up there; I know I did, but so rarely that I could count them on one hand -- I'm sure you can get loads going that way, but it just doesn't seem to be an area where they often run.

    Having said that, I'm sure you would be able to get the truck home and park there (the rules for parking should be similar to those outlined for morpheus), though in order to know for sure, you'd have to ask Wil-Trans for specifics.

    JV, let me share some important info with you that has made me take Prime off the list.

    Prime does not require you to bring a permit anymore as rules have changed in MO. If you go there you will have to surrender your MA license, get a MO permit, and test there. The CDL you obtain there will not transfer to MA. The rule in MA is that you have to had lived in MO for 2 full years to transfer. If not, you will have to retest in MA.

    After looking at a bunch of companies I am going Celedon. (Lets hear the haters now)

    Which school are you looking at in MA?

    It could have been mentioned but the Walmart DC in Lewiston might be used as a drop yard. Otherwise the terminal in Pittston would be a place to drop.

    That's a bizarre rule. When I got mine in MO back in 2013 I was able to transfer it to Michigan no questions asked. We had a few from the east coast go thru the whole shabang and ddidnt have any issues switching it over. Must be a new rule, and a pretty dumb one at that.

    Anyone can take their truck home (lease can as long as you want, company guys max 4 whole days) but they are picky about their trailer pools and I can guarantee they'll make you drop it at a company yard or a customer with D/H freight.

    That is a screwy new rule. I got my CDL in Virginia in 2013, and was able to easily start at Prime in Pittston -- I didn't need to re-test or anything like that, just pass the simulator tests. Is it some new Missouri state law?

    I think it has to do with Real Id. MO is one of the non-compliant holdouts.

    MA has a screwy set of laws in regards to licensing. There should be a rule that if you obtain your CDL in one state then it automatically transfers to your home state.

    I'm just gonna try Parkers Driving School in Avon, MA I think morpheus. I think after weighing everything over, it makes more sense for me to just get the license here in MA and go from here moving forward to whatever company I can get with. I just picked out Wil-Trans so far since I tend to find the smaller companies a bit better than the larger ones, plus the reefer that they run I think would pay a bit more too. Celadon was one of my choices too. I hope that they work out for you. Not hating on them at all, but I suppose that I crossed them off my list when I read (on here as a matter of fact) that they have the dreaded "silent interview" forward facing cameras. Now, as a new driver with a Class A (and having 14 years with buses with the Class B), the last thing that I would want to deal with is my DM/FM, or what have you, staring at me while I drive, lol. I dealt with that with passengers on my motor coach and that was fine since my DVR is spotless and I have always been one who just does the posted 55mph, or posted 65mph. As far as that relates to Prime and there supposedly slow trucks - heck, that would not bother me in the least. If I can make more money driving the speed limit, or a bit under then I got no problem with that - but to each their own (I mean, if you wanna drive 75+, be my guest).

    Hope it works out for you. If I did choose Prime though, it would sure be nice to train right in Pittston rather than in MO, but no worries.

    Parker will be a good place for you. As i stated, I wanted to go there but it is too far to manage with my work schedule.

    I had no idea that Celadon use cameras...... I will have to verify and if this is the case I will reconsider going there. Thanks for mentioning that.
    I have also contacted TMC in regards to their program. They pay well and do mostly flatbedding.
