i am currently in the hiring process for maverick im going to the flatbed,i only have 1 hand due to an accident when i was 4 my whole family has been truckers i know i need some kind of waiver but it says i need a medical waiver to get my CDL will maverick do this when i go to little rock or will it need to be done beforehand
they said someone will get ahold of me from there HR dept they already have my background back just need the medical but i cant get it till i take a road test
Then just wait till the hr rep calls and see what you have to do. Good luck to you. There have been many amputees do the job. There's a video off a flatbedder with an amputated arm below the elbow, he's out there tearing it up
yah,i really don't see this keeping you out of the industry, either. i seem to think we had a guy missing half his arm running for us years ago.
My safety guy did flatbed and has a mostly unusable arm not sure how you go about it but it can be done.
I used to flat bed, I don't see them hiring you due to your disability. If pulling a van, I would say you are OK. The only way I see you flat bedding is with your own authority and equipment. But, that is just one man's opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine. A lot of drivers only have half a brain, so you're probably already well ahead of them.
