You can keep track of your hours all you want, but things happen, you know that. And I would much rather have one of my drivers do as he did, secure the load and find a safe place to park, other than on a get off or on ramp. This one size fits all nonsense is just that, nonsense. This is not a 9 to 5 office job.

If you went over by 50 miles no I don't.You're suppose start looking for a place an hour before you run out of hours and if you don't have the hours to pick up a load so be it you tell dispatch.

It is far better next time when you have been driving 9 hours and are unsure of where to put her down for the night at the 11th hour to simply grab the first lawful parking spot you are at wherever you are at to avoid any more future HOS conflicts.

Trip planning is key here. Im not going to lecture you. Or give you a hard time.

We are entering a difficult time in this industry as HOS computer stuff takes hold. Everyone is going to lose money, lose time, lose progress etc to these #### computers.

Try to have a alternate place to stop by the time you finish your 9th hour driving. You can then have a good understanding of the limitations of the last two hours left in your driving day to see if there is any good safe parking spots within range of your time, distance and possible choices, if any.

It is not the end of the world to violate the HOS. The problem for you the driver is when DOT man is standing on your fuel tank writing a very expensive ticket that might take you months to pay off plus a imposed OOS sticker on your left windshield and a total ban on driving anything until that future date and hour. Which will gaurnatee your total service failure to that customer appointment and by extension to your firing.

    You're with Prime ?

You should already know your log department. Ring them in the morning and explain the situation, the ladies there are very helpful and understanding, they will take care of it and advise you not to make it a habit.

As for the load to be picked up today, you have to know your hours and what you can run. If you cannot legally make a pick up tell dispatch via Qualcomm and have them message you back via Qualcomm, that way everything is recorded. Don't let them give you directions over the phone as that's when they take advantage of you.

This is not a big problem get a good nights rest !

Party I know I'm not a seasoned vet in the trucking game but I at the very least plan my trips. I cant help the fact that there are no truck stops and rest areas near the shipper and I'm not comfortable with just parking anywhere, as a matter of fact I don't park anywhere were there aren't any other truckers around. I left my 90 this morning around 8am after being there for hours, got a trailer washout, and headed to my 01 that was 320 miles away. I think I did my job to the best of my ability today.
