Easy to do since that truck is about 4500 lbs. I would either rebuild that 5.3 with a good set of heads from Texas Speed, mid 220’s duration cam, a stock 4L80 with a few minor upgrades, 3600 stall and an Eaton true track limited slip. Or if you can find a 6.0 and do the same with a mild cam, 4l80 and 3k plus stall and true trac. 4l60e can’t hold the power and the g80 in the rear will blow apart.

'Tis the season of cattle chutes I guess. Got another load for Monday headed for Zumbrota, MN. Not sure where the reload will be, but I'm hoping there are more miles in the week than out there and back from Minneapolis.

I think its got a 6L80E transmission in it. Was thinking about sticking a Ford 9" in the rear. I was doing some research on some budget 5.3L builds. Looks like its possible to break 500hp with stock internals. With 400k on it a guy might be looking at boring it out a bit:

This is hypothetical at this point. I already told him I'd buy it for what the dealer would give him for a trade in and he agreed. He's just not sure if he's going to demote it to winter beater or sell it yet.

I thought it was a 2000, now I see it said late 2000s. It probably does have the 6L80 then, (duh you said 6th gear.) I went with an on3 turbo kit and a meth kit, 84mm that supports close to 1k. Had to upgrade to 94# injectors, change out cams to one with less overlap, sold my heads and got stock 317s, huge fuel pump. Don’t be like me and go around the world to do the same thing, LOL. On3 makes a turbo kit for $1800 or so and is the route I would go if I had to do it again on an otherwise stock motor.

I'd consider turbos or a supercharger. Probably cost less in the long run vs trying to gain 200-250hp naturally aspirated. I don't know if 4wd would be worth keeping. Better traction for launching but I don't know how well that front diff and transfer case would hold up. I've never built a street/strip vehicle so its kinda gonna be trial by fire lol.

Well that was the longest Thursday in a while.
Had to dust this bottle off a bit; can't recall who was president when I bought it.

I can’t see building a 4x4 pick em up for drag racing. It’s like having a hot girl with beautiful long hair, gravity defying tits and dancers legs and only touching the boobies. No hair pulling, no leg stroking? No Bun squeezing? Just boob worship? What a waste of a total package.

If he’s already have forced induction or big power, I’d concentrate more on the suspension and wheel travel and brakes. And then aid the traction with something like an ARB air locker. It’s a truck, right? Then truck it up.

    That’s what SHE said!

I told her that she’s still young.
