I haven't ran a marine cam before but from what I understand there is a bit more on the injector lobe (more HP) and no more lift but more duration on the valves and piston clearance is fine. One other HP addict on here told me the soot levels in the oil improved with the marine cam from allowing more exhaust gases to be removed. Sound right to you?????
I think that makes sense. I'm just trying to soak up as much info as I can about these things. How soon are you planning on the swap? The reason I ask is it seems that everyone I know with a CAT has had to put a cam in between 400k & 600k mi. I got lucky on my 2WS, it was warrantied at 492k mi. I'm sure glad I kept that truck around for a spare. Now I have time to go through my big motor & not be in too big of a hurry.
This might be a stupid ? but how do they reman. a camshaft? I thought if you needed a new one the old one would be smoked?
