Anyone who thinks this industry is severely regulated now must not remember what it was like before deregulation.
More government regulation is not the answer never has been and never will be... This new breed of drivers need their hands held every step of the way they need to be told when to take a break they need to be told when to drive they need to be told how to get there when the make a left charred when to make a right turn this industries falling apart because of this BS... Name one thing that the government has ever done that has turned out positive because the government has a very strong reputation for screwing things up....
There is a smart way of getting your point across and there is a dumb way. This guy took the stupid way. Does anyone here actually believe that the regulators will now say, oohhh ahhh, you make sense, let's get rid of the elogs? Heck no. They're going to use his words to tighten it even more. They're going to find out how he's been cheating and then slop in more regulation on top of regulations. That's what's going to happen.
Government regulations may not be the answer to some. Many of you hate being told what to do by the government, but you and many others voted them into power. We cannot be trusted as whole to govern ourselves. You, and many others on here are angry at the wrong people. You shouldn't be mad at the government. They have an obligation to protect everyone, whether they're truckers or not. Dont be mad at your leaders. You picked them. Be mad at the handful of drivers who sparked all of these regulations.....I am going to name things the government has done well, because its subjective. It just amazes me how people think they're the only ones that matter.
I wholeheartedly agree with your post. He really thinks he is being a Billy ###### by coming at them like this. Next step will be to eliminate pre-elog trucks, or at least make them elog capable. Pre elog trucks can be made elog capable. So they better tread lightly
Really all they would have to do is rewrite the ELD mandate to allow GPS data to prove Truck movement then even mechanical motors could be made to use one.
Right..I came across a driver in Virgina who leased his truck to a company, cant remember which one. He has a 95 Pete. His company required him to use elogs. If the powers that be find out this can be done, itll be more angry drivers.
