Question for you Detroit fellas. Recently bought an 05 Western Star with a DDEC 5 14L in it. Somehow the EGR and all of its various parts fell off of the engine.....along with the VGT. Had it tuned by a very reputable fella and put on his turbo. But I’m thinking I’d like a bit more umph out of the Mean Green engine yet. My previous truck was a C16 with lots of marine parts. So I was thinking of upgrading to Detroit’s version of a marine injector and swapping out the current turbo for one I already have. My question is are there different stages to Detroit injectors? Cat always had what we referred to as the 57’s, 58’s and 59’s. 57 being truck, 58 being industrial and 59 the marine version. Does Detroit do the same, and if so, anyone know specific part numbers and flow numbers? I’m suppose to be around 575-600 rwhp right now. Wouldn’t mind seeing that number closer to 650-700. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!
I looked at those. I just wasn’t sure about going with an aftermarket reman style of injector. Have you tried them?
I'm running the plus 40% size on an 03 S60 14L with a S430sx turbo. Truck was originally 550hp factory tune now just over 650 after tuning.
Roger that. That’s the turbo I’ve got for mine too. S430SX 78 mm with a 1.45 housing. Maybe I’ll have to touch base with them. Might wait to see if anyone has some factory Detroit options
